ETCS: Revolution in European train
control
The «European Train Control System» (ETCS)
is undergoing testing in various countries, including Switzerland.
Locomotives are currently being retrofitted. Confecta is part of
the action, supplying complete cabling systems – ready for
installation.
ETCS is the new train control system of the future, which is standardised
Europe-wide. ALSTOM / Stadler Bussnang AG are currently integrating
this new technology as subcontractors in over 500 vehicles jointly
with Alcatel, Siemens, Sécheron and Bombardier. By the historical
timetable change on 12.12.2004, over 300 passenger vehicles of Swiss
Railways SBB will have been equipped with this revolutionary system.
