Val Torino
Starting in 2005, the first fully automatic, driverless
metro trains will come into service in Torino, Italy. For this large-scale
contract, the Confecta Group has been entrusted with the supply
of the complete electrical wiring. A framework contract allows Confecta
to enter the Val-type series market and therefore to obtain follow-up
orders from the world over.
The two-section railcars of the Val-type series do not travel on
rails as conventional underground railways do, but are mounted on
pneumatic tyres and travel on a concrete carriageway. In the French
city of Lille, such metro trains of the Val-type series supplied
by Siemens are already in service.
The framework contract not only covers the cabling of the metro
trains in Torino, but also the supply of the entire vehicle family
of the Val-type series. This lays the foundations for the global
supply of electrical wiring systems by Confecta.
